Remembering Glen Campbell on The String

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  -- The music world is mourning the passing of Glen Campbell at age 81. He was a masterful guitarist and a remarkable interpreter of songs who blended country and pop as artfully as anyone has done. At the same time, this country boy from Delight, AR naturally had the ease and the boyish charm to build a worldwide fan base as a singer, actor and TV host. He was among the biggest stars in any medium in the world in the early 1970s, and his artistry remained on consistent display right up through his profound farewell album Adios, which was released in early June.

The legacy of Glen Campbell PART TWO.

Last Fall, WMOT's Craig Havighurst devoted an episode of his weekend show The String to the story of Glen Campbell. It includes an in-depth interview with his daughter Ashley and his long-time friend and music director Carl Jackson. Part II features a chat with James Keach, director of the 2014 documentary I'll Be Me, which followed Campbell on a prolonged farewell tour as he and his family managed life with Alzheimer's disease. And finally there's a short interview with Glen Campbell himself from 1969, just as his star was rising.
