Bradley County deputy kills attacker outside her home

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) — A Bradley County deputy has killed a man who investigators say attacked her outside her home.

The Daily Banner reports Tiffany Oakley is being treated at SkyRidge Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries after the Tuesday morning struggle. The confrontation happened as the deputy arrived home at about 2 a.m.

Sheriff Eric Watson says the man pinned Oakley to the ground and tried to cover her nose and mouth. Oakley used a stun gun on him to no avail, so she shot him with her service weapon. He died at a local hospital.

Watson says authorities do not know who the attacker was because he had no identification and no car.

Oakley is on paid leave while the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation completes a probe of the shooting.
